Information

Nowadays the Institute comprises: 12 scientific departments, 2 scientific-auxiliary departments, 12 auxiliary subdivision, a Special scientific and technical branch, Center for collective use, Editorial of scientific journal "High pressure physics and technics".

The Institute carries out fundamental and applied investigations in the following lines of investigation:

• physics of a solid under extreme conditions;
• physics and technology of prospective structural and functional materials.

Those wishing to study at the post-graduate courses hand in an application addressed to the director of the Institute and also enclose the following documents:

1. a researcher's questionnaire and a photograph;
2. a list of the work published (those who have no published works submit a summary by the specialty chosen);
3. a copy of the work-book, a salary reference;
4. an extract for the minutes of the Council meeting for those recommended for studying at the post-graduate courses by the higher school (faculty) councils immediately after graduating from the higher school;
5. a certificate of health state (Form 286-u);
6. a copy of the diploma about graduating from the higher school;
7. four photographs of 3x4 cm in size;
8. opinion of the supervisor;
9. a post-graduate student record card;
10. a copy of the identification number.

	The School of Mesoscopic Phenomena in Solid States The founder of the School - academician of the NAS of Ukraine Vladimir I.Arkharov The basic results recognized in the world: Introduction and development of the ideas about collective elementary acts and a relay-race activation transfer in the process of diffusion and recrystallization in a solid; Discovery of the phenomenon of an intercrystallite internal adsorption of the dissolved components and impurities, and establishment of this phenomenon role in forming mechanical and physical properties of materials; Creation and development of the concept of a mesoscopic consideration of the phenomena in a solid with introduction of the specific structural scales which change the elementary acts of the phenomena under consideration into the collective ones.
